Residential 7.2 kW Grid-Tied Solar System
South Bend, Indiana, October 2007
This residential 7.2 kW solar PV grid-tied system includes 40 Uni-Solar PVL 136 modules and 26 Uni-Solar PVL 68 modules installed on the roof. The Uni-Solar PV modules are flexible laminate modules that are thin and lay flat, creating a seamless look with the rest of the roof. They are visible only as the darker-toned sections on the roof's south side. These connect to two SMA-America Sunny Boy inverters to convert the DC power generated by the modules into grid-acceptable AC, and a Fat Spaniel Insight Views™ monitors and tracks the system's energy production. The system is then grid-connected to the local utility. It also has a 80 KW 120/240 VAC 1 phase Katolight generator.
